IAACA New Milestone
The new office of the IAACA Secretariat was opened in Hong Kong, China on 26 April 2023.
Mr Simon Peh, IAACA President, remarked at the opening ceremony that the new office for the Secretariat would benefit the long-term development of the Association. He thanked the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China for its continuous support to IAACA and the Secretariat, which made the establishment of this new office possible.
Tackling Corruption through Capacity Building Programme
The advent of new technology has created a new dimension to the age-old crime of corruption. To stay ahead of the fugitives who use technology or even more sophisticated techniques to conceal their illicit behaviours or to circumvent investigations, graft-fighters must keep themselves abreast of new technologies and the latest development and application of forensic sciences.
IAACA at a glance 2022
The 12th IAACA General Meeting was held back to back the 3rd Executive Committee (ExCo) meeting on 8 December 2022, around 100 heads, senior officials and representatives of over 50 IAACA member organisations participated in it. At the General Meeting, President Simon Peh expressed his gratitude for members’ efforts in taking forward IAACA’s new initiatives implemented in this term (2022-2024) and appealed to their continuous commitment in advancing the global fight against corruption.
Forging close collaboration with international counterparts
The Training Committee pulled together all members at its 1st meeting to chart the way forward for advancing training collaboration and promoting experience sharing in fighting and preventing corruption at international, regional and sub-regional levels. Dr Yasser Refaie, Director of the Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption Center (ROLACC), also briefed members on the 3rd IAACA Training Programme to be co-hosted with the Training Committee in early 2023 in Doha, Qatar.
The meeting generated fruitful outcomes. Sharing the common goal, members generously offered to contribute their expertise and resources in various ways such as fielding speakers in conferences,
organising regional capacity building activities, cooperating with the Training Committee to take forward training programmes, etc.
Regional Coordination Mechanism launched with substantial progress
The 2nd Executive Committee (ExCo) meeting was successfully held on 24 February 2022. Mr Simon Peh, President of IAACA, thanked ExCo members for making good efforts in taking forward the regional coordination mechanism shortly after the 1st ExCo meeting in January. During the meeting, ExCo members actively shared their experience in reaching out to anti-corruption authorities (ACAs) in their regions and offered valuable views on enhancing IAACA's visibility in the international arena.
